People get more protections based off of their proximity to Whiteness. So we all have been conditioned to choose this violence for ourselves, because that's what's been offered.

Acknowledge the violence!

Thank you so much Joquina Reed (She/Her) for reminding us of the violence we all unfortunately participate in. This first step is acknowledgement and I know this episode will help a lot of people move in the right direction.

In this episode we discuss:

-Why we don’t need more “perpetual users”

-How Anti-Blackness can show up in ourselves

-What happens when we continue to seek White validation

This episode was full of laughs, tears and Beyonce! I am so grateful for the amazing people I get to meet in this space and so proud of how I do this! Tune in today!

Joquina Reed wears multiple hats but the most important hats I wear in life is being a fabulous aunt to 8 nieces and nephews! In addition to being Nanny Kina. She is also a Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion practitioner and owner of JReed Consulting LLC. She is the creator behind the Divesting from Whiteness and Please Say Black podcasts and curator of The AntiBlackness Reader project. As a life-long learner and educator, she affirms the words of her great ancestor, Anna Julia Cooper, “The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class - it is the cause of humankind, the very birthright of humanity.”
