There were several times last year when I was reminded that the rich truly believe the lies they tell us.

This week I received another reminder through my forced watching of the Drew Barrymore show, as I walked on the treadmill at my local YMCA. Drew's guest chef Jamie Oliver demanded us all to "get back in the kitchen and cooking" while describing a recipe that takes over an hour to make and boasting "veggies are cheap".

I work over 40 hours a week and am a single parent to a young child. Like many of us, all I can afford to do is laugh at how ridiculous his outdated demands are in the year 2025. 2025, a year where most Americans are but a small inconvenience away from homelessness.

This guest also claimed freezing this recipe for later dates to eat when he didn't have time to cook. Another laughable yet understandable statement from the rich trying desperately to appear relatable. As many Americans cheer on and lend aid to Luigi Mangione, suspect charged in UnitedHealthcare CEO's killing, these attempts are ultimately too late and too far between.

The dishonesty and ultimate charade needed to become and remain wealthy in America is now becoming more visible than ever before. These lies, that once satiated our appetites for "success" for years, have left us starving. As we starve, the rich keep demanding we eat. What should we eat?
